The three year old class at Binkley Preschool is a place for children to play, explore and learn. Emphasis is placed on the development of social skills, self help skills and fine and gross motor skills.
As we play we learn to share, take turns and use words to communicate our needs and wants and to solve conflicts. Through theme based units we encourage creativity and exploration.
Our typical day consists of:
- Circle time
- Center play
- Art activities
- Story time
- Sharing time
- Snack
- Music/movement/drama
- Outside play
Children are encouraged to participate in activities that enhance their skills while also establishing friendships with classmates. The threes have the opportunity to participate in music class with Mrs. Alberda, every week!
Elizabeth Geier first came to Binkley as a parent in 2014, with children in the 2’s and 4’s class, and it has been a constant place of joy and learning for her since. She started teaching as a 2’s assistant in 2016 and enjoyed teaching preschool so much, she was delighted to have the opportunity to become the 3’s lead in 2020. Mrs. Geier loves exploring each day through the eyes of a child, experiencing the excitement and pure joy of a 3 year old while helping them navigate the challenges of the world around them. Mrs. Geier has a Masters in Art Education and has worked previously as an art teacher. She currently lives in Carrboro with her husband and 3 children. She loves rock climbing, restoring furniture and art activities of any kind. Most of all she loves her Binkley students and families!
Hi! My name is Jennifer Abbott. My husband and I live in Chapel Hill (Chatham County) with our two daughters and our two dogs. My daughter also has quite a few guppie fish — they multiply and divide constantly! As a family, we love to have fun and soak all the good out of life!
